100 Orders on Dirtbag Dan!

I launched the Dirtbag Dan website this past summer because I had a broken foot, and couldn't climb. I was hoping to expand my skillset, and curious if I could make enough money to justify the monthly subscription. I had no idea if it would work out or not - but with a bunch of time on my hands and Shopify's summer promotion - three months for $3, I had no reason not to try.

Today, I fulfilled the 100th order placed on this site. A small milestone, but a great one nonetheless! In half a year, the site has found an audience; recurring customers; and is succeeding in connecting climbers with rare resources and helping to preserve climbing history. That's pretty cool. It is growing every month, and more than paying for the monthly subscription.

In that same time period, I've sold over 500 books - some on the site, some through other venues. Additionally, I've bought about 250 - many from strangers who have reached out through the contact form on the site. Being able to rehome books which were well-loved by these golden-age old-timers is a lot of fun, and I've met some very interesting people. Some whose names are written in the history books, and many whose names do not appear, but were right there all the same.

I want to extend my sincere thanks to all of you who have made this possible. and if you are a newcomer to the site, know that this is a passion project and I appreciate every order. Hopefully you do, too!

To celebrate (and thank you for reading the "Blog" section of this site!), I'm offering 25% off the first three orders using the discount code: NEXT100. (Valid 3 times total, 1 use per customer, code expires at end of February 2026)
