Boulder, 1964

Boulder, 1964

A pair of interesting articles written by Anthony Greenbank after a visit from the UK to the US in the 1960s. I came across these while browsing the huge amount of material I bought from Steve Komito, and thought they would be fun to scan and share. You'll see some similarities between Boulder climbers in the '60s and Boulder climbers today. The aid climbing photos are taken at Castle Rock, a still popular crag in Boulder Canyon.

The first article comes out of "Alpine Climbing: The Bulletin of the Alpine Climbing Group 1965". Cost: 3 shillings.

The second article comes from a Scottish magazine called "The Climbers." I have only included the photos, including a fun one of climbing at the Red Rocks Ampitheatre, but the PDF linked at the bottom has high-res scans of both articles.

Full PDF of both articles can be downloaded here.

And although I have sold a lot of his material, you can shop what I've got left of the Steve Komito collection here.
