How to Use the Site

Thanks for coming by!
As my inventory grows, discoverability is important. Here are a few tips for browsing the site. In this blog post you'll see images showing both the desktop site and the mobile site - both work the same way, they just look different.
The Front Page

The Home page/landing page at dirtbagdan.com has a list of "New Arrivals." This is a curated list, and does not include every new arrival. If you want to see all available books sorted from newest to oldest, click the "Shop All Books" button on the homepage. That will take you to https://dirtbagdan.com/collections/all which shows all available inventory.
Search for a specific title
Say you're interested in the book Winter Dance: Select Ice Climbs in Southern Montana & Northern Wyoming, you can just type "Winter Dance" in the search bar. If I have a copy in stock, it should appear in the search. The site is set to hide out-of-stock items, in order to avoid a frustrating experience when searching. So just because nothing shows in search doesn't mean we have not sold it before, and won't sell it again. Product pages for out-of-stock books still exist, and you may land on them from Google, but the on-site search will only display products you can currently buy.
Search for a region

When I add books to the site, I do my best to tag them with appropriate terms. For instance, you could search "Yosemite", or "Colorado", or even "Eastern States". Make sure to hit enter to see everything-the dropdown menu will not show all results!
A few regions you can search for:
- Western States
- Eastern States
- Southern States
- Midwest or Midwestern States
- International (all countries outside of USA)
- Specific Country: Canada, Switzerland, Peru, etc.
- Specific Range: Alps, Himalaya, etc.
- Specific Area: The Needles of South Dakota, Joshua Tree, etc.
- Foreign Language (ALL non-English books)
- Well-Loved (Damaged books - cheap!!)
Search by Type
Books here are divided according to type. You can browse by either typing in the search bar, or using the top menu to navigate.
Examples of categories include:
- Guidebooks
- Collectible Climbing Magazines
- Instructional Climbing Books
- Alpine Journals
- Narratives
- Reference
Items may be tagged into multiple categories if they could reasonably be described as both.
