A Climber's Guide to the High Sierra by Hervey H. Voge (1954)
A Climber's Guide to the High Sierra by Hervey H. Voge (1954)
The very first climbing guidebook with coverage of Yosemite Valley, Kings Canyon and many other areas of the High Sierra.
This handsome little hardcover volume was assembled from reports previously published in the Sierra Club Journal, and illustrated with many maps, pencil drawings, and route sketches, plus some excellent b&w photos by Ansel Adams and others.
301 pages, includes index of named peaks and index of passes, plus a short index of obsolete and obscure names. I have several copies for sale - all have seen some use, all have mostly-complete dust jackets in brodarts, and all are second, third, or fourth printings (no firsts).
Offered at a good price for the Yosemite/Sierra enthusiast.
