A Climber's Guide to Yosemite Valley by Steve Roper (1964)
A Climber's Guide to Yosemite Valley by Steve Roper (1964)
The first full climbing guidebook to Yosemite Valley. This is one of the most desirable climbing collector's items: consider that it was this iconic little book (limited to less than 500 copies), which guided the early Yosemite pioneers and their friends up the vertical paradise of climbing.
190 pages, black-and-white with historical photos and handsome charcoal sketches. With the rare dust jacket, which is complete except for a small chip missing from the top. Previous owner stabilized the jacket from further tearing with Scotch tape on top and bottom of jacket. I've placed the dust jacket in a mylar Brodart cover.
Book itself is in good shape, although there are a couple small crush points on the top and bottom of the front board. Previous owner name and information written on front end-paper, otherwise no markings in text. Small acorn sticker on back pastedown with text: "Best's Studio Yosemite Valley."
