Cordillera Blanca Escaladas by Anotonio Bohorquez (2003)
Cordillera Blanca Escaladas by Anotonio Bohorquez (2003)
Parte Norte.
SPANISH LANGUAGE. This is the most comprehensive and up-to-date reference guide to the Cordillera Blanca. Yes, even though it's from 2003. The author, Antonio "Sevi" Bohorquez, is the preeminent scholar on the range, with many contributions to the American Alpine Journal regarding names, etymology, and routes through the years. His blog is located at https://andesinfo.blogspot.com/, if you want to do some old-school internet surfing.
According to Sevi, the guide was limited to a print run of 2,100 copies and will not be reprinted. It contains thorough information on historical routes up to the early 2000s, as well as more general information on the area and culture. It covers over 300 climbs to 100 unique summits, focusing on the northern part of the range. The follow-up book, which would have logically covered the Cordillera Blanca - Sur, was never released.
272 pages, black-and-white with index & bibliography. This copy is brand-new.
