Greece & The Middle East Rock Climbing Atlas (2006)
Greece & The Middle East Rock Climbing Atlas (2006)
By Wynand Groenewegen and Marloes van den Berg.
A pretty interesting concept for a "guidebook". This Atlas covers Egypt, Greece, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Turkey. It is essentially a travel guide - showing you where to go and discussing a few of the important things to know both inside and outside of climbing.
It will direct you to a wide variety of crags and mountains across this region, but it does not provide topos or route lists. On the copyright page, the authors explain: "This rock climbing atlas does not contain any topos or detailed route information because we would like to encourage readers to purchase local climbing guidebooks. The proceeds of guidebook sales tend to support local climbers and underpins route development, and we hope that our actions, and those of our readers, may contribute to the preservation and enhancement of the climbing areas we describe."
