The first volume of Sir Christian Bonington's autobiography.
Bonington was the most famous of Britain's expeditionary climbers during the 1970s and 1980s. This book describes the early climbs on which he built the reputation that got him that job: successful climbs of the Walker Spur on the Grandes Jorasses, the Eiger North Face, Nuptse, and many more.
This is a fourth printing, from 1973. Previous owner of the book must have been real grubby, as the boards have serious staining. The jacket was also wearing a thick coat of grime, but I gave it a good cleaning and it now looks much better and is protected in a new vinyl brodart. Overall condition I would say is between "Fair" and "Good".
