Walter Bonatti is one of the titans of Italian mountaineering. The Piolet d'Or, the Oscars of climbing, granted him their first-ever lifetime achievement award, which has now been renamed the "Piolet d’Or Lifetime Achievement, Walter Bonatti Award."

Offered here are his first two books, translated from their original Italian into English. Amongst other events, these books cover his early climbs in the Alps (of a very high standard), the controversial Italian expedition to K2 in 1954, the first ascent of Gasherbrum IV in the Karakoram, the North Face of the Eiger, the 1961 tragedy on the Central Pillar of Freney, climbs in the Cordillera Huayhuash of Peru, and Bonatti's solo winter ascent of a new route on the North Face of the Matterhorn, his final serious climb and undertaken as a goodbye to the sport.

On the Heights is a 1964 first edition hardcover, first printing. Published by Rupert Hart-Davis, London. It has no dust jacket, bumped corners, and some minor damage to the top of the spine. Some interior pages are folded back on each other. This volume in particular is quite scarce. This one came from the personal collection of Steve Komito.

The Great Days is a first edition hardcover, fourth printing from 1978. Published by Gollancz, London. Book is in great shape. It comes with dust jacket in excellent condition, not price-clipped. It came from the collection of Michael Chessler.
