Describes the 1952 French expedition to Argentine Patagonia that scored the first ascent of Fitz Roy. This was done in siege-style by a team including Lionel Terray. The mountain would go more than a decade before the second ascent.
First English edition, in translation from French. Hardcover, 237 pages with photographic plates throughout and a few maps/diagrams. Dust jacket pretty worked, with several large chips missing. But title, spine, back cover, and inside flap text is all fully legible, so pretty lucky overall on that. Dust jacket protected against further deterioration by a plastic Brodart sleeve.
