The Mont Blanc Massif: The 100 Finest Routes by Gaston Rebuffat (1996)
Second-edition Mountaineers reprint of this classic coffee table book/guide to the Mont Blanc Range.
Gaston Rebuffat was a famous guide who climbed all over the massif and the Alps more widely, and his selections represent those of a highly seasoned guide, mountaineer, and local resident. They range from easy tours over scenic ridges to some of the most demanding faces in the area. Each route is given a text description, a few photos, a route diagram, and some technical data.
Originally released in 1973 in France, this book made its way to the English-speaking world in 1975, and was influential for a whole generation of climbers. This 1996 reprint maintains the original text but includes two pages of notes at the back, noting the changes in grading or terrain which have occurred since the original release of the book.
240 pages, full color hardback with complete dustjacket in mylar brodart.
