The Next Horizon by Chris Bonington (1973) (SIGNED)
The Next Horizon by Chris Bonington (1973) (SIGNED)
The second volume of Sir Christian Bonington's autobiography.
Bonington was the most famous of Britain's expeditionary climbers during the 1970s and 1980s. This book covers the years 1962-1972, years in which Bonington is cementing his resume as a climber and his reputation across the world - but before he assumed his later role as the leader of constant high-profile British expeditions to Everest and the Himalaya. Adventures covered here include meeting his wife, Wendy; the Central Tower of Paine in Chilean Patagonia; the tragic Eiger Direct climb with John Harlin; the Old Man of Hoy seas stack; Annapurna South Face; among others.
Three copies available, all first edition hardcover UK printings from Gollancz. All books have dust jackets in very good condition or better. All three have some sun-fading to the spines. All are flat-signed by Bonington on the title page.
