The White Spider by Heinrich Harrer (1960) (SIGNED BY HECKMAIR)
The history of the Eiger's North Face.
Author Heinrich Harrer was part of the first ascent team, along with Fritz Kasparek, Ludwig Vorg, and Anderl Heckmair. They started as two independent ropes but ended up joining together in the middle of the face.
This copy is signed by Heckmair in strong black marker. At the time of the Eiger climb in 1938, Heckmair, 32, was the oldest and most experienced of the group. The route is now often referred to as the "Heckmair Route", or the "1938 Route".
