One of the rarest and most sought-after climbing guidebooks in existence. If you are looking to buy this you probably already know this, but the Needles in the Black Hills of South Dakota is a huge maze of pinnacles with an obscure climbing history and poor documentation. This thorough book includes many useful diagrams, maps, and descriptions which are invaluable for the dedicated Needles local. Traveling climbers can find the classics - but those looking to venture off the beaten path in this area will want something like this book, or the equally rare 2015 Fixed Pin one.

This copy is clean and tight EXCEPT the first 44 pages are loose, but still bound in two "signatures". See pictures. This is caused by people storing the included maps inside the front cover. I have seen two copies with this same defect now. So, it is what it is with regards to that. All pages are still present, you'll just need to be careful.

The second issue with this copy is that it is missing one sheet of maps. The sheet which IS present has Maps 4-8, covering the Switchbacks and Ten Pins area, the Cathedral Spires and Picket Fence, the Chessmen Group, the Playground Area, and the Grizzly Bear Creek South Fork Area.

301 pages, black and white, including action photos, maps and diagrams; with index and one sheet of maps.
