Transcendent Summits by Gerry Roach (2004)
One climber's route to self-discovery.
These days Gerry Roach is most likely to be known as "the 14er guy," at least here in Colorado. Roach authored four editions of "Colorado's Fourteeners: From Hikes to Climbs", an enormously successful guidebook to Colorado's popular 14,000-foot peaks.
But Gerry Roach is far more than a 14er peakbagger - he holds a seriously impressive climbing resume from all across the world. Roach started climbing in 1955 with the likes of Layton Kor, and was still at it as recently as 2023, when he suffered an accident on a obscure Colorado 13er.
This memoir tells some of Roach's most transcendent climbing moments throughout his climbing career.
212 pages, with small b&w photographs throughout. Excellent appearance but slight smell of water (no stains/mold, etc. Really only perceptible if you stick your nose in the book and sniff).
