Travels Amongst the Great Andes of the Equator by Edward Whymper, 1949 condensed printing as part of the Chiltern Library collection of books.
An introduction by famous British mountaineer and author F. S. Smythe, this is a trimmed down version of Whymper's massive tome originally published in the late 1800s. This contains the chapters about Whymper's 1879-1890 expedition in Ecuador, which Smythe calls "his magnum opus as a traveler, an explorer, and a scientist."
272 pages, price clipped, with a bookstore stamp in the front cover and bottom of block. This book is in near-fine condition, with very light sun-fading. The dust jacket is fair, with some small missing sections (see photos) and partial detachment of the front inside flap.
