Stylish hardcover reference guide to old-school climbing in Britain. Covers England & Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. The dust jacket brags that over 1,100 features are covered, which may very well be true. This is more of a reference than a proper guidebook - it lists crags and mountains, their location and general character, but does not list routes.

From the dust jacket: "Where to Climb in the British Isles will serve as a comprehensive reference book to all the specialized local climbers' guide-books which have been published since climbing began. At the same time, the climber who deplores the over-guide-booked state of the sport will find here just enough information to enable him to locate the rocks and to judge whether they are within his powers. Thereafter, he can choose his own lines on the crags without regard to the guide-book pattern and thus revert, as nearly as is now possible, to the conditions of the pioneers."

287 pages, black and white. Dust jacket in pretty poor condition, but now protected in a vinyl cover, so it won't deteriorate further. Two photographic inserts with some pretty rad old-school photos.
